Job Description

As a Control Room Operator, you will play a key role in overseeing cargo operations, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities

  • Monitor control room operations and coordinate with crews to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee the operation of conveyors, safety devices, and material flow, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to established procedures and quality standards, including accurate sample collection.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with management, supervisors, vessel crew, vessel agents, suppliers, and surveyors to meet customer requirements.
  • Monitor and manage the impact of weather on cargo, production labor, and environmental conditions.
  • Ensure cargo weights and load order requirements are followed, and collect samples as required.
  • Comply with all operational directives and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changes in processes and procedures.
  • Strong team-oriented mindset and effective communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and initiative.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to all weather conditions, including hot, cold, and rainy environments.
  • Work at varying elevations and in moderate-to-high noise levels.
  • Job site includes light to heavy equipment, vehicles, tools, and communication devices.
  • Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety glasses, safety vests, gloves, masks/respirators (when necessary), steel toe boots, and other required gear.
