Job Description
We are hiring an experienced Controller for our valued client in Des Plaines, Illinois.
Please note: This is a direct hire opportunity. Candidates selected will be employed directly by our client.
Key Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Lead and manage the monthly financial close process , including review and approval of journal entries
- Prepare and publish monthly financial statements and executive-level financial reports
- Oversee and manage the annual external audit process and other required internal/external audits
- Ensure compliance with GAAP , regulatory standards, and organizational policies
- Monitor daily cash flow and short-term cash needs
- Design and support the annual operating and capital budget process , collaborating with leadership
- Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to executive leadership and business partners
- Supervise and develop staff accountants , including performance check-ins and annual reviews
- Assign, track, and report on team KPIs and individual goals
- Support implementation of new accounting standards and special finance projects as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting within accounting systems and CMMS tools
Experience and Skills Required for the Controller role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- Active CPA license (Illinois required)
- Demonstrated experience in financial management and leadership
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience leading audits, budgeting, and month-end close
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Schedule & Pay for the Controller role:
- Full-time | Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Hybrid role - some days in office and some days working remote
- Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 annually (based on experience, education, and credentials)
