Controller/ Accountant – Waste Recycling / Waste Disposal Industry
Location: Chicago, IL

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in the waste recycling or waste disposal industry . The ideal candidate will oversee all accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close
- Prepare and review accurate financial statements (GAAP)
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial controls
- Support audits and coordinate with external partners
- Implement and maintain accounting policies and internal controls
- Lead and mentor the accounting team
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Recent 3–5+ years of Controller/Accounting experience in waste recycling or waste disposal industry (required)
- Strong understanding of industry-specific accounting practices
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
- Local to Chicago, IL or nearby states
- Stable work history ( no job hoppers )
