We are seeking a Creative Content and Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the Ukrop's brand. This position will have a leading hand in the planning and execution of marketing initiatives, both internal and external. This individual embodies both the left and right brain approach to solving problems, having the ability to formulate a vision, articulate a clear strategy and creatively execute. This person will play a key role in helping to frame and communicate the Ukrop's brand to the public via various marketing materials, channels, and events and will manage internal communications to our fellow teammates. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, but working closely with Marketing, Human Resources, and Customer Service this role brings to life the magic of the Ukrop's brand.

Essential Duties:

  • Help to establish and manage overall marketing strategy and calendar, taking a holistic view of marketing activity for Ukrop's that creates a cohesive theme, idea, look and tone.
  • Build on corporate goals and planned strategies to develop and execute marketing ideas.
  • Develop a social media strategy and execution plan that engages target audiences and establishes Ukrop's as a brand relevant to everyone across multiple channels, including general website, e-commerce, and social media.
  • Manage the company's website and social media accounts to ensure a high level of creativity and uniqueness, while maintaining brand consistency. Includes executing social media posting as well as paid social media campaigns.
  • Regular use of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) to concept and execute various marketing materials from digital ads to in-store signage.
  • Ability to write creative briefs and work with external partners (advertising agencies, freelance creatives) clearly communicating creative needs to obtain the best work from creative partners.
  • Manage digital content including coordination or writing and editing of content, shooting, editing, and uploading of media/video content online for internal and external purposes. Research best practices around digital communication, search engine optimization, point of purchase merchandising effectiveness, and other related marketing techniques.
  • Collaborate, create, execute, and manage marketing programs and campaigns for new products.
  • Manage the planning, coordination, communication, and execution of the annual Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K and other sponsorship activity (Flying Squirrels, Richmond Kickers, Maymont, etc.)
  • Collaborate with HR to develop and implement a robust recruitment marketing strategy via creation of a strong engaging social media presence and other recruitment and retention marketing tactics.
  • Create engaging internal communication through video and photography to use in flyers, internal TV network, emails, and various other printed or visual materials.
  • Supports an accident-free work culture. When developing, or modifying processes, assists in accident prevention and risk identification to minimize risk exposure from equipment, or ergonomics.
  • Supports GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act). Assists in ensuring that the SQF (Safe Quality Food) system is in place and that the Company is in compliance with all aspects of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points Plan), SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) throughout the plant. Reports all food safety concerns to Technical Services and Plant leadership.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in marketing, advertising, or related field.
  • Expert in Microsoft office suite.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficiency in front end and back end of Instagram and Facebook (i.e., ability to design / implement / track paid social media campaigns).
  • Fluency in newer and emerging social media channels (TikTok, etc.), with point-of-view on how Ukrop's best fits into this evolving landscape.
  • Proficiency in CMS systems and marketing platforms (i.e., WordPress, Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the fundamentals of photography / videography to be able to successfully shoot, edit and produce simple videos and photographic images.
  • Demonstrated experience in execution of successful marketing programs with limited resources.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas and bring them to life via a clearly articulated strategic approach and execution plan.
  • Keen attention to details and executional prowess.
