This is a part-time position. Individuals in the Graduate Student Assistant classification work on an actual hours worked basis to a maximum of 1500 hours. This will allow departments to work employees in these classifications up to 1500 hours in a 12 consecutive month period regardless of the number of days they have worked.

Our Health Innovation and Pilot Performance team is currently seeking a Graduate Student Assistant. This position helps CalPERS conduct research and evaluation of its health care program and initiatives by conducting scientific studies along with other data collection and analyses to help guide the program.

Minimum Qualifications
Registration as a graduate student in a college or university of recognized standing. (Persons appointed during the summer months must produce evidence of eligibility for such registration in the following enrollment period.) Please include a copy of your official college/university transcript and/or proof of enrollment in your application package.

This is a non-testing classification; no exam is needed.

Statement of Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

If you have a degree from outside of the United States, you must submit an evaluation of this degree to determine the US equivalency. In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Ability to analyze data and create reports
  • Ability to use SAS, R, SQL or Python
  • Experience in data collection and project management
  • Experience conducting scientific surveys
  • Experience in health care, epidemiology, biostatistics or public health
