Lactation Consultant (RN, IBCLC)
Salary: $122,531 – $157,793 annually

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lactation Consultant (RN, IBCLC) to join our healthcare team. Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager, the Lactation Consultant provides direct inpatient and outpatient lactation care to mother-baby dyads and collaborates with families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based lactation support.
This role includes patient education, staff training, Baby-Friendly designation support, leadership responsibilities, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
Schedule
- 4×10 hour shifts
- Shift options: 8 AM–6 PM or 10 AM–8 PM
- Must be flexible to work both shift types
Responsibilities
- Provide direct lactation assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for mother-baby dyads.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate lactation orientation and in-service programs for nursing and physician staff.
- Facilitate lactation education classes and support outpatient lactation resources.
- Ensure compliance with Human Donor Milk program processes and regulatory standards.
- Participate in Baby-Friendly data collection and initiatives in collaboration with providers and leadership.
- Utilize effective decision-making and priority setting for patient care needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
- Integrate patient rights and infection control practices into daily workflow.
- Provide RN patient care as needed.
- Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Maintain IBCLC certification requirements, including CERP completion.
- Attend staff meetings, required in-services, and maintain compliance with facility policies.
- Manage/support the breast pump rental program.
- Serve as a resource expert for lactation-related concerns across hospital departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; current NY RN license required .
- BSN required .
- IBCLC certification (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) required.
- BCLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications required.
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing, lactation, medical, and health practices.
- Completion of department and unit orientation programs.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $122,531 – $157,793 annually
