Job Description

  • On-site position in Bethesda, MD; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Seattle, WA; or CA: East Bay (San Francisco), Palo Alto, Santa Monica, or Los Angeles
  • $200,000 annual salary with weekly pay. Health benefits start day one, plus HSA/FSA and 401(k) Roth options

  • Alpha is transforming the traditional school experience. Our students don't endure conventional lectures—they accelerate through adaptive applications, achieve mastery in half the time, and develop practical life competencies throughout. Your role is to ensure the "3 Promises" are delivered to every student in your cohort while coaching our Guides to replicate that success.

You will combine world-class coaching expertise with dynamic facilitator presence, transforming workshops, data-informed team sessions, and precise feedback into powerful development experiences. If you have broken performance records, converted struggling teams into top performers, or consistently reject mediocrity, we want you to help us build excellence.

    Why Alpha?

    • Elevated compensation for high-cost markets – pay exceeds our standard guide compensation to reflect metro area living expenses
    • Comprehensive benefits & time off – full health coverage and ample paid time off
    • Relocation support – offered to exceptional candidates
    • Development-focused environment – access to coaching, professional training, and defined advancement opportunities

    What You Will Be Doing

    • Developing and training Guides to deliver Alpha's workshops with exceptional quality
    • Building Guide Playbooks that document facilitation best practices, effective learning activity design, and challenge resolution
    • Delivering consistent, actionable feedback to Guides that drives student engagement and academic success
    • Personally coaching a small student cohort, demonstrating advanced mentorship and motivational techniques

    What You Won’t Be Doing

    • Creating lesson plans – Guides facilitate student learning via adaptive applications; your role is training them to become outstanding motivators
    • Compromising expectations – when our success benchmark is 100%, you uphold that standard
    • Running dull training sessions – you will develop Guides through dynamic, energizing, experiential learning

    Lead Instructional Coach Key Responsibilities

Develop Guides and students to ensure every learner in your cohort loves school, learns at 2× speed, and masters life skills. No exceptions.

    Basic Requirements

    • Currently based in or willing to relocate for on-site work at one of the Alpha Campuses (Bethesda, MD; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Seattle, WA; or CA: East Bay (San Francisco), Palo Alto, Santa Monica, or Los Angeles)
    • Hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
    • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or related area.
    • Proven track record developing and executing innovative educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives.
    • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities with experience building, managing, and inspiring high-performing teams.
    • Background working with youth (ages 5-18) in educational or developmental settings.
    • Skilled in data analysis and leveraging metrics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States
