Overview:

Weitsman Recycling is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Scale Operator to join our team. As a Scale Operator, you will play a crucial role in the accurate measurement and documentation of materials entering and exiting our recycling facility. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Weighing and Recording Materials: Accurately weigh incoming and outgoing materials using scales and other measuring equipment. Record weights and relevant data in the company database.
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with customers, drivers, and other personnel to ensure smooth and efficient weighing processes. Provide excellent customer service and address inquiries related to weighing procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all transactions, including materials received, materials shipped, and any discrepancies. Prepare and submit daily reports as required.
  • Quality Control: Monitor materials for contaminants and ensure that only acceptable materials are accepted. Report any deviations or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on scales and related equipment. Report any malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including drivers, yard personnel, and management, to optimize workflow and resolve any operational issues.
  • Adherence to Policies: Follow company policies and procedures related to material acceptance, pricing, and other operational guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the recycling or waste management industry.
  • Proficient in using scales and measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs pounds.
  • Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
